Q: Are transportation services available?
Transportation to local medical appointments and scheduled activities are provided at no charge.
Q: Can I bring food in?
If you choose to bring food in from the outside, please check with nursing and/or dining services staff.
Q: Can I bring in my own medications?
Over the counter medications may be brought in. An order from your physician would need to be obtained. Prescription medications need to be packaged individually and would need to be obtained on a 24-hour and emergency basis from a pharmacy.
Q: Can I bring my pet?
A resident may have a pet as long as the resident can care for it. Approval is also needed by the Iowa Department of Inspections and Appeals.
Q: Can I have a meal with a family member?
Residents may have guests for a meal by notifying staff ahead of time. There is a charge for the guest’s meal.
Q: Do I need to have my own wheelchair or walker?
Standard wheelchairs and walkers are provided. Residents may bring their own.
Q: Do you have a beauty salon?
A beauty salon/barber shop is located on second floor of Martin Health Center.
Q: Do you provide laundry services?
Yes. We request that all personal clothing and linens be labeled with your name. Arrangements for labeling are made with the Environmental Services Supervisor or the Director of Resident Relations prior to or upon admission.
Q: How often is my room cleaned?
Q: Is oxygen covered by Medicare in Martin Health Center?
No. Medicare does not cover oxygen services in a nursing facility.
Q: What are the visiting hours?
Visitor are welcome 24-hours a day. The building entrance is open from 5:00 a.m. until 8:30 p.m. each day.
Q: What items can I bring in?
We encourage residents to decorate their rooms using their own furniture, television, and personal belongings. Pictures may be hung on the walls. Bed linens, washcloths, and towels are provided by Western Home Communities.
Q: Will my long-term care insurance policy cover my care?
Please refer to your own policy. We will be glad to be of assistance.
